Yaletown is located on the north shore of False Creek and is filled with trendy restaurants, boutiques and galleries and is filled with red brick buildings from the 19th century, which now house some of the hottest spots to visit.
There are places to visit during the day like the Coastal Peoples Fine Art Gallery, where there is one of the best collections of Pacific Northwest Coast Native artwork in the city of Vancouver.
In the evening or for lunch there are restaurants like the Bluewater Café and Raw Bar that has fresh sushi, an oyster bar, and a private wine cellar. For later in the evening there are night spots like the Opus Bar that has nightly DJ music. The community of Yaletown got its name from the Canadian Pacific Railroad during the 19th century when the rail yards were moved to the city from Yale that is located in Fraser River Canyon. Since then the city began to grow and is now the location of some of the most popular neighborhoods and Yaletown is considered Vancouver’s little Soho. There are also the memories, of the past at The Roundhouse Community Center, which houses Vancouver’s first passenger train Engine No. 374, in 1887 that is on display.
