André Rieu hasn’t even finished his worldwide “30th Anniversary tour”, but he already confirms North American tour dates for 2010. Rieu, together with his 55 piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, will return to North America for a 21-city run that starts in June. Rieu will appear in concert in Vancouver on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at General Motors Place. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m.
The 2010 tour will be very special. Says Rieu: “Next year will be the “Celebration of Music Tour”. I always say that music is the most wonderful thing in the world. Music triggers emotions. I want to bring an ode to waltzes and polkas that bring joy, to romantic ballads and to many more beautiful melodies. It will be a very special night”.
André Rieu is the world’s most successful male touring artist of the first half of 2009, according to Billboard magazine. The leading music industry publication has published an overview of the 25 best selling tours and Rieu ranked number 4. With 554,242 tickets sold and $57.4 million in gross revenue, only Madonna, Tina Turner and Britney Spears had more revenues coming in. Billboard also ranked Rieu as the number 1 classical artist of 2008.
